About us

First Serve Education is owned and ran by Martyn Jones and Louise Gealy.

As parents of a child with special educational needs we have taken a tough journey to ensure our son was educated in an environment suitable for his needs to allow him to develop and achieve. At times our journey has been challenging and frustrating but ultimately, we succeeded in our desire to find a mixture of education and provision to ensure our son achieve his potential and completed secondary education with the skills to equip him to lead a full active life in the community.

On the way, we learnt many lessons and found options to enhance traditional routes to learning and provide our son with invaluable, life, social skills and employability skills.

As parents, we committed to securing our son the best future achievable, we found many barriers and obstacles to overcome which has given us the passion to offer children in a similar situation the chance to gain these skills.

Our History

Activeace has been long established within Nottingham. We are the preferred provider for coaching and tennis therapy with many schools and care focused institutions.

We run several tennis centers around Nottingham and we offer bespoke courses for young people and adults with various disabilities.

After establishing ourselves in our largest venue, we wanted to ensure we helped the wider community in is many ways as possible, as this is a core reason for our existence.

At the end of each of our summer training camps parents, pupils and referrers would book again for the next holiday training camp and comment that they would benefit from our services in the form of full-time education.

With this in mind, and relishing the chance to add academic qualifications such as GCSEs to our apprenticeship and after careful consideration, we decided to develop our venue to be able to offer wheelchair tennis and develop classrooms with full disability access in order to facilitate a learning environment for students with physical considerations and also the students have been diagnosed with SEN needs such as autism.
